Be Strong and Do It: Uncovering Your Calling in Christ

Do you ever wonder what God’s purpose is for your life? This morning, as I read 1 Chronicles 28, this question came to my mind: “What has He called you to do?”

It’s not about what you think you should do, what others are doing, or where the need seems greatest. It’s about a deeper purpose, intimacy, and a calling whispered by the Holy Spirit.

What has He called YOU to do?

Finding Your Place in the Body of Christ

I love how in 1 Chronicles each family was allocated different and specific tasks in building the temple. They were skilled and knew exactly what they needed to do. I don’t see any mention of grumbling over allocated roles. Each family had a unique and important part. We, as the body of Christ, function similarly. We are not all called to build a physical temple, but to bring God’s kingdom here on earth.

Remember His Promises and Embrace Your Identity

Be who God has created you to be, using all the gifts and talents He has given to you.

  • You are chosen. God has a purpose for your life.
  • You are called. He has a specific task for you to fulfil.
  • You are anointed. He has equipped you with the gifts and abilities to build His kingdom.

Be Strong and Courageous: Don’t Let Fear Hold You Back

Stay focused on what God has called you to do. Don’t let fear or discouragement paralyse you.

Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all of the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished.

1 Chronicles 28:20

Just like David encouraged Solomon, know that God is with you. He won’t abandon you nor forsake you. Embrace your identity in Christ, discover who He has uniquely made you to be, and confidently step into all He has prepared for you.

What has God called you to do? What are your gifts, skills and passions? What will you do to be part of building His kingdom here on earth?
